Could you create a film in just 24 hours?
Join us for an exciting and challenging event, bringing filmmakers and film enthusiasts together to explore beautiful landscapes and tell unique stories about the Highlands of Scotland!
Welcome to the pilot 24 Hr Film Challenge, a brand-new film competition in the heart of the Highlands where you will be challenged to showcase your creativity and filmmaking skills to create a short film in just 24 hours!
Participants will receive a theme, a line of dialogue and a prop that should be included, before planning, filming, and editing their short fiction or non-fiction film of 3 – 5 minutes. Films will then be screened and judged, with a winner chosen by our panel of experts!
Why Enter?
This 24 Hr Film challenge provides a unique opportunity for filmmakers to explore what living in the Highlands of Scotland is like. Our campus is located in a diverse landscape in Easter Ross, surrounded by nature, culture and heritage, providing a rich location to tell stories about people and places! The nearby Cromarty Firth has been identified as a future green freeport and is at the heart of renewable energy, decommissioning of oil rigs, nature, art and much more.
The competition is open to individuals or teams with participants aged 16+, including first-time filmmakers, freelance filmmakers, current UHI students and members of the public, with the aim of creating a launchpad for filmmakers and a creative community. Participants must use their own filming and editing equipment.
The winner will receive a prize of £500*. Additionally, the winning film will be screened at the Inverness Film Festival (IFF) 2023, at Eden Court. You will also receive a pair of complimentary cinema tickets from Eden Court.
Entry is £15 + £2.25 Eventbrite booking fee per person.
