Step Into Stem – School events are back!
We were so pleased to return to in person events recently and loved engaging with the students, teachers and employers at the recent Step into Stem events across the North Highlands.
This opportunity is usually for S2 students but because Covid has hindered so much for our young people, S3 were invited along too as they missed the opportunity last year.
The secondary schools which took part included Farr (23 students), Wick (224 students), Thurso (280 students), Dornoch (60 stuends) and Golspir (72 students).
Employers were invited to attend schools to introduce students to STEM, let them understand more about it and the roles STEM plays in a variety of different business settings. Employers each had activity based stations where students would spend 30 minutes learning about the tole STEM plays in that particular business.
Employers included:
- Dounreay
- The North Highland College UHI
- Dunnet Bay Distillers
- Jacobs
- SSE Renewables
- Science Skills Academy
