The project management apprenticeship is a comprehensive training programme lasting two years. During this period, you will undertake training and work experience with various project teams on a rotation basis. You will learn the systems and skills required for successful project management. Project management is the process of planning, organising and overseeing tasks to ensure goals are achieved on time, within budget and efficiently. It involves coordinating teams, solving problems and keeping everything running smoothly. On completion you will awarded a Technical Apprenticeship including SCQF Level 8 Diploma in Project Management (equivalent to an HND).
What do I do?
Working alongside Dounreay’s various teams in projects and functional support, you will develop your knowledge, skills and experience of project management. This Technical Apprenticeship is designed to give you the foundations to work in roles such as project controls (planning, cost engineering, estimating) or assistant project manager. The apprenticeship will set you on a course to being able to lead project tasks of limited complexity, or assist on complex projects, and as you experience grows to take on more complex projects.
The Training:
- is assessed at SCQF Level 8
- will be delivered through a mix of on-line, virtual classroom and work-based learning
- will cover a range of modules including project initiation, planning and scheduling, monitoring and reporting, managing teams and stakeholders, and managing budgets and risk
- will enable you to understand NRS Dounreay and their approach to project management
- be assessed through different methods including personal reflective statements, workplace observations, witness testimonies and professional discussion
Over the apprenticeship you will be based at the Dounreay site.
Requirements:
- Minimum of:
- Higher (SCQF Level 6) in either English or Mathematics/Application of Mathematics
- National 5 (grade A-C) in English and Mathematics/Application of Mathematics and two other National 5 (grade A-C)
- Good communication and team working skills
- Able to commute to the Dounreay site (local bus service available)
