Developing the Young Workforce North Highland
DYW North Highland is part of a national framework of regional employer-led boards across Scotland. Formed as part of the Scottish Government’s youth employment strategy, the regional boards work in partnership to seek more opportunities for young people.
DYW North Highland aims to develop sustainable links between schools, colleges and employers, working in partnership to help employers shape their future workforce and better prepare young people across the North Highlands for the world of work.
Since 2015 DYW North Highland has played a significant role in ensuring young people have a work relevant education experience. The initiative is available to all young people in education aged 24 and under. Working in partnership with employers to inspire confidence, enable relevant employability skills and support access to workplace opportunities to develop lifelong career skills.
The DYW Pledge aims to connect every 16-24 year old in Scotland to an opportunity – from a job or apprenticeship, to further or higher education, training or volunteering.
For employers, the DYW Pledge is a great tool for planning and structuring their activities with young people.
